Oh yeah, this is famed record producer Kim Fowley with then wife of one week. She was the chick singer in the Industrialists band. I photographed all of Kim’s bands. Some made it and others didn’t. Tons of $$ on film and processing was spent and magazines all over the world gobbled his stuff up! Oh, yeah, if case you do not remember, Kim discovered Joan Jett and he created The Runaways. Really looking forward to the film next year.
This is the best way to photograph Cher! She was not amused when I took the photo, but who the fuck cares. The photo was published all over the world and that is what counts! Use your head when you take a photo and make it controversial and interesting.
I just scanned this photo of a Kim Fowely band called The Industrialists. Kim sent me to downtown L.A. some thirty years ago to do the photo session. The light was really crisp and the chick in the band really knew how to work the camera. She ended up marrying Kim for about a week. Do not have a clue where she is today and they never got a record deal.
The Day I Shook The Hand Of Bob Dylan
Actress/singer Ronee Blakley knew I was a huge Bob Dylan fan. I lucked out and obtained first row tickets at his 1974 Los Angeles concert. I sold my first photograph from this show and it was the start of my wonderful photo career.
In 1976 Ronee was performing at the Roxy and told me Bob was coming to the second set. He sat in the VIP section and was escorted backstage. Ronee got me back there and introduced me to Dylan. He was very friendly, remarking that I looked a bit like him. He gave me a really limp handshake that was not too impressive. Ronee grabbed him and we did this amazing set of photographs. I was in heaven. After this set, Bob set up another group shot of him with a new actor named Robert De Niro and other friends, including musician David Blue, actress/singer Lanie Kazan, actresses Martine Getty and Sally Kirkland. I did not have a clue who any of these folks were, but sold the shot to “People” and “Rolling Stone,” to name just a few.
Does Anyone remember Adam Ant? I think I took this photo backstage at The Starwood a zillion years ago!
Bob Dylan asked me to take this photo of him with a an fairly unknown actor, Robert DeNiro backstage at Ronee Blakley’s Roxy concert in 1976. Dylan had been on my radar for ages and this was the first time that I met him and was able to take candid photos of the legend. He also claimed that we looked a bit alike!
