Cool photos from the 70's and today!
I had a lovely lunch last week in Tokyo with my good friends and representatives Masayuki and Isao. Joining us was Mr. Nakamura, my first photo agent in Japan. We discussed how the markets have changed so much over the last three decades. Back in the seventies it was a really big deal to receive a package of color slides and black and white prints of rock stars and celebrities. I would send these packages via airmail as this was even before FedEX! There were only a handful of photographers covering pop culture back then and only a few of us knew the secrets and glory of the Japanese markets. Today, it has all changed. Just too many photos on the market and so few real icons to sell to the magazines. Fascinating.
