Something just clicked when I was hanging out with Joan at her Tropicana Motel room years ago. Dunno what it was for sure, but it seemed like the stars were all aligned on that summer afternoon back in 1977.
Joan Jett was my greatest photo subject. The time was 1977 and the person who gave me the “gold pass” to meet, hang and photograph Joan was the legendary Kim Fowley. Next to Joan, Kim was probably my # 2 favorite photo subject. He was tall, handsome and incredibly intelligent. One day and there were many, Kim ordered me to his “dog den” to photograph him with this lovely blonde GF. I did and the rest is history. You can visit with him today on his Facebook page. When I was just a kid I loaded up The Runaways into my parents car and headed to Santa Monica Beach. When we got to the pier Joan and Sandy ordered up some french fries and as Joan gazed off onto the California distance, I took this photograph. RIP Sandy West.

This photo was taken right after Joan and I had this tremendous lunch at Dukes the coffee shop at the old Tropicana Motel in West Hollywood. We ate these massive hamburgers and then polished them off with frozen Snickers bars. Somewhere I have photos of the massive hamburgers!
