Cool photos from the 70's and today!
No this is not a paparazzo photo of Joey Ramone! I did not need to go that route since we were all friends. One evening in 1977 I had spent hours inside Gold Star Recording studio with Joey, but the photos were boring. As we left together to meet Rodney at Canters Deli some fans yelled out to Joey and I took this photo. A bit touching since Joey is not with us anymore.

The Ramones were friends of mine and they always made time for me to take their photos during their stays in Los Angeles. Joey was a special friend. He was incredibly shy and a beautiful soul. One day in 1978, Danny Fields their brilliant manager invited me to take photos and hang out with the band at The Sunset Marquis. Hotel photos are fine, but I had a keen eye for the corner of Sunset and Alta Loma with the signage and all. It was all about capturing a cool moment back then. It still is today.

I haven’t printed this photo since the late seventies. I would take my photos, run home to my parents basement to develop the film and make the prints. I would be up all night and in the morning I would dry the prints, hand write the captions and mail the photos to the rock and roll magazines in the USA, Japan and Europe. I never slept. The adrenaline rush was overwhelming. I did not sleep for days after hanging out with my friends Joey Ramone and Rodney Bingenheimer during a Ramones recording session.
