At the precise moment that Ringo Starr inserted his key into the lock of the exclusive On The Rox club, I took this photograph. That was 1976, you can read the story behind the photo on my Factory 77.
Thank you ROSS X BUTE for the cool mention about my early 70’s photos and my exhibition at Kana Maglapus Projects in Venice. My John Lennon and Ringo photo taken in front of On The Rox back in 1976. Ringo had the key to the uber cool private club and everyone else and to beg into the intercom!!
Thank you the Huffington Post, Tanja M Laden and Flavorpill LA for the lovely article: I Was A Teenage Paparazzo: The Photography Of Brad Elterman! What the article did not say was that I almost shit in my pants after I took this photo of fifty percent of The Beatles, Ringo and John Lennon! Enjoy your weekend.
I swear, I almost shit in my underwear while I was taking this photograph of John Lennon and Ringo as they entered On The Rox on the Sunset Strip in 1976!
I almost shit in my blue jeans when I saw John Lennon and Ringo Starr arriving together at On The Rox on the Sunset Strip back in May of 1976. Photos of either one of these legends were so rare and lucrative. It was a miracle to get a photo of two Beatles together and you could have retired if you had shots of the entire band together. If you want to see the entire story of this photograph, check out this video produced and directed by photographer Erica Lauren.
Check out my latest video, ‘Key To On The Rox’. I talk about photographing John and Ringo in Hollywood!

I talk all the time about Music Life magazine from the seventies. They used to publish truck loads of my photos! The magazine was fat like a telephone directory and almost impossible to find in the USA. I was on their mailing list so I got free copies. All of the cool pop stars at the time were also on the mailing list for free magazines. I remember the intense aroma of the Japanese ink. All of my friends and I would smell the ink of the magazine before we would look at the photos! Sadly, Music Life closed down in 1985, but I still have my photos and those great memories.
