I just shipped off my photograph entitled “Valley Chicks” to Vogue Italia for their Photo Vogue exhibition at 10 Corso Como this month in Milan! I am honored!
I was at every Runaway concert and sound check and I always brought my camera!!
In the summer of 1977 I drove out to the San Fernando Valley to hang out with and photograph Cherie Currie of The Runaways for the worldwide press. I sort of hit the jackpot when her twin Marie tagged along and Vicki Razor Blade showed up out of nowhere. Everything just clicked. Remember these were the days before hair make, stylists and publicists!

Back then it seemed so much easier to capture a special moment. Not sure if it’s because I am older now or if there was just more to capture in the 70’s.
Here I am today at Santa Monica Catholic High School dissecting my photo of Marie, Vickie Razor Blade and Cherie Currie from 1977. I told the class that it does not matter what kind of camera you use and always try and capture a moment. I also told the class not to be afraid of self promotion. You can see here that I always practice what I preach!
