Does this photo look like 1977 or what? I took this sexy photo of Jackie Fox from The Runaways with YES bass player Tony Kaye at the wedding of Pamela and Michael Des Barres. This wedding was one of the most in-crowd affairs of the decade. I was the only one taking photos and there were no helicopters hovering overhead.
NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN THIS PHOTO BEFORE!
I took this photo of Joan Jett and Sandy West of The Runaways on the Santa Monica pier in 1977. I was always hustling their photos to the Japanese magazines. Sandy will be missed.

I was Leif Garrett’s personal photographer and I traveled all over the world with him. I took this photo in Malibu around 1982. His career had already peaked, but he was still one cool dude.
This 1982 classic was taken on the rooftop pool at the Riott House. Hardly anyone in the USA knew Duran Duran. I knew them of course as I would see them plastered all over the Japanese magazines. When I met up with the band they had nothing to do and what seemed like zero press. I took them up and down the Sunset strip and dragged them upstairs to the hotel pool. They were gracious and incredibly cool. Simon and John Taylor even as teenagers had star presence. You could really feel it. They were incredibly charismatic and total pros in front of the camera. It would be another 25 years before I would run back into John Taylor at a party at the Chateau Marmont Hotel. He looks exactly the same and he had not lost one once of that charm.
Note from Brad: Hey invite me to a cool scene to take photos! I am around all summer!
Lita Ford of The Runaways was a fucking great guitar player even when she was a teenager. This photo was taken in her parents kitchen back in 1977 when I was photographing her for Music Life Magazine in Japan.
All of the magazines wanted to see the rock and pop stars at home enjoying daily life. Today, it would not be possible to take a photo like this. It would never be permitted by the dreadful publicist, management or dancing midgets working for the bands. I hear that Lita is living in Florida or the Bahamas these days.
I drove all the way to the Encino or Woodland Hills to do a photo session with Jackie Fox from The Runaways in 1977. Most of the photos were rather uninspiring , but I do like this photo of her with the doggie. I had the pleasure to dinning with Jackie a couple of times recently. She looks exactly the same after three decades!
There would be no Joan Jett, Cherie Currie or in fact the band The Runaways if it was not for this dude! This is Kim Fowley, a living legend. I was there at the Sugar Shack when he hand picked Joan and Cherie to be in the band. Kim went on to not only manage the band, but to also produce their brilliant records. As you can see by the looks of this photograph taken in 1978 that there were always wonderful perks to being in the music business in the 70’s. Do those perks still exist today?
