In 1978 I made a quickie trip up to Las Vegas with my best pal Rodney Bingheimer for the Queen concert and party. Queen was amazing and we were treated like kings. The party was held at the old Aladdin hotel and we all sat at this hugh dinning table with the band. Freddie, as always was a bit camera shy, but he was cool about me taking a few photos.
Concerts were a bore to shoot, but not Freddie Mercury at a Queen concert.
Freddie was not wild about having his photo taken. I took this one at a dinner for Queen in Las Vegas around ‘78. Anyways, happy birthday Freddie. We are all partying today for you.
Happy birthday Freddie. You will always be with us and we share a toast to you!
I went to a really exclusive dinner party with Freddie Mercury and Queen in Las Vegas back in 1979. I was there with my pal Rodney Bingenheimer and we were welcomed with open arms. We sat next to Roger Taylor and Freddie. I knew that Freddie was not thrilled about having his photo taken, but I still needed to get a few shots. Freddie was not one to mug for the camera. We miss you Freddie!
Freddie Mercury hated to have his photo taken! A select group of trusted photographers were permitted to photograph Queen’s performances and the band’s photo sessions were very controlled. In the late seventies, I lucked out and was invited to Queen’s post concert party at The Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. I had the wonderful sit down dinner and I was free to take all the photos I wanted. I knew that Freddie was really camera shy so I only took a few photos. I was really shy back then too!

I was overwhelmed with the turnout last night at LEADAPRON in Los Angeles for my book signing. It was so cool to introduce the my dear pal Mayor Of The Sunset Strip Rodney Bingenheimer to modern pop culture chronologist Steven Meiers. Rodney introduced me to everyone back in the seventies. One day we found ourselves on a private jet on our way to Las Vegas at the invitation of Queen to see their concert and dine with them at the party. Yep, we knew Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor. We knew them all.
One day, I will pass the baton on to Steven, but not yet. Is this a fucking cool photo or what?
